What Exactly is Cotton Elastane Ribbing?

Cotton elastane ribbing is a versatile knit fabric that comes in a variety of widths and smooth or textural rib finish. It is available in both round (tube) and flat.

This European-made ribbing in my collection is soft and stretchy, with 2-way stretch. Ribbing can be used for a variety of creative projects, such as cuffs, collars, and waistbands. Because of the elastane content, the ribbing has good elasticity and return and is frequently used to trim hoodies, jackets, and other apparel.

Cotton elastane ribbing can range in weight from 200gsm to 600gsm, with 220-280gsm being the most common.
