Wilder Peplum Top and Dress PDF Sewing Pattern - Ruffle Sleeve Hack!

Read Time: 1m 20s

You love the Wilder Peplum and Dress Sewing Pattern by Wicked Pattern but wish that there was an add-on to make it a little more sun friendly?

Thanks to Masyta, you can learn how to add a lined ruffle sleeve to the Wilder and any other pattern you might have in your pattern collection!

How to Add a Lined Ruffle Sleeve Tutorial

Step 1

  • Mark 1" (2.5cm) from the edge of the armscye at both ends and measure from point A to point B.
  • My measurement is 9" or 23cm.

Step 2

  • We'll double the distance from point A to point B; 9 "x 2 = 18", so our new length is 18". The height we are going to work with is 4.75" (you can play around with this depending on preference).
  • Cut out two 18" x 4.75" rectangular pieces.
  • Fold each piece in quarters and round off the edges with a curve to soften the edges. You can use a french curve or draw it freehand.

Step 3

  • Fold the pieces in half length ways and sew a gathering stitch right at the edge of the curve.
  • Gather each ruffle sleeve until it is approximately 9" in length.

Step 4

  • Place the gathered ruffle sleeve on the right side of the front piece along the armscye, matching up point A and B. Place the lining piece on top so that it sandwiches the sleeve in between.
  • Sew along the curve of the armscye
  • Repeat on the other side for the other sleeve

Follow the remaining steps in the eBook to complete your dress. On completion, your ruffle sleeves will look like this..
